It supplements the <a href=\"\/blog\/en\/terms-of-service\/\">Terms of Service<\/a> and the <a href=\"\/blog\/en\/privacy-policy\/\">Privacy Policy<\/a>.<\/p>\n<h2>1. What counts as an opinion on this site<\/h2>\n<p>Two kinds of opinion appear here, and they are treated differently because they come from different people.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Reader comments<\/strong> beneath blog articles. They are written by visitors and express the view of their authors, not of the provider.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Assessments inside articles<\/strong> &ndash; comparisons of plugins, hardware, services and configurations, verdicts on what works and what does not. They are written by the provider.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Some things that other websites publish as opinions do not exist here: no star ratings, no customer testimonials, no review section on the start page, no reviews imported from third-party platforms. Nothing is sold on this website and no user account exists, so there are no reviews from purchasers in the sense of the EU rules on consumer reviews (Directive 2005\/29\/EC as amended by Directive (EU) 2019\/2161, transposed into Polish law in the Act on Counteracting Unfair Market Practices). This policy nevertheless follows those rules, because the question they answer &ndash; does an opinion come from a real person who had actual contact with the thing assessed &ndash; is the right question for a technical blog as well.<\/p>\n<h2>3. Reader comments<\/h2>\n<h3>3.1 Who can comment<\/h3>\n<p>Anyone can comment on an article. A name and an e-mail address are required; the e-mail address is not published. No account is created and no registration is needed. The form is protected against automated submissions by reCAPTCHA v3; the details of that protection are set out in the Privacy Policy.<\/p>\n<h3>3.2 No verification of use or purchase<\/h3>\n<p>The provider does not check whether the author of a comment has actually used the product, plugin or service mentioned in it, and has no technical means of doing so. Comments therefore carry no label such as &ldquo;verified&rdquo;, and none of them should be read as if they carried one. A comment is the statement of the person who wrote it, under the name that person chose.<\/p>\n<h3>3.3 Review before publication<\/h3>\n<p>Every comment is held back and appears only after it has been read. The review is carried out by the provider personally, not by an automated service and not by a third party. It usually takes place within a few days; a comment that has not appeared after a week has most likely been refused. There is no automatic publication, neither for the first comment of an author nor for subsequent ones.<\/p>\n<h3>3.4 What is published and what is refused<\/h3>\n<p>A comment is published when it relates to the article, is written in a language the provider can read (English, German or Polish) and does not fall under one of the following grounds for refusal:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>advertising, affiliate links, search-engine spam or links whose only purpose is to raise a ranking;<\/li>\n<li>insults, threats, incitement, discrimination or content that is unlawful for other reasons;<\/li>\n<li>personal data of other persons, including names, addresses, telephone numbers, e-mail addresses or identifiers of accounts and devices;<\/li>\n<li>content that infringes the copyright or other rights of third parties;<\/li>\n<li>links to malware, phishing or otherwise dangerous pages;<\/li>\n<li>comments that have evidently been generated in bulk or submitted repeatedly with the same content;<\/li>\n<li>comments that have no recognisable connection to the article.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The list is exhaustive in one respect: <strong>an opinion is never refused because it is unfavourable.<\/strong> A comment that criticises an article, a tool from the Toolbox, one of the provider&rsquo;s own plugins or a recommendation made here is published under exactly the same rules as one that agrees. Factual corrections are particularly welcome and are often followed by a correction in the article itself, which then names the comment as its source.<\/p>\n<h3>3.5 No editing of content<\/h3>\n<p>A comment is published as submitted or refused as a whole. The wording is not changed. The only exception is the removal of a passage that would by itself be a ground for refusal &ndash; typically a telephone number, a third party&rsquo;s e-mail address or a link &ndash; where the rest of the comment stands on its own. Such a removal is marked in the comment with a note in square brackets.<\/p>\n<h3>3.6 No paid, commissioned or rewarded comments<\/h3>\n<p>The provider does not write comments under other names, does not buy comments, does not commission them and does not offer any benefit &ndash; money, goods, services, links or visibility &ndash; in return for a comment or for a particular tone of comment. No one connected with the provider is asked to comment. Should such an offer ever reach the provider from outside, it is declined, and the comments concerned are refused.<\/p>\n<h3>3.7 Order and presentation<\/h3>\n<p>Comments appear in chronological order beneath the article. There is no sorting by rating, no ranking and no highlighting of favourable comments over unfavourable ones. Replies are shown indented under the comment they answer.<\/p>\n<h3>3.8 Removal after publication<\/h3>\n<p>A published comment is removed when the provider becomes aware that it falls under one of the grounds in section 3.4 after all, when a court or authority requires it, or when its author asks for its removal. The author of a comment can request its removal at any time by e-mail to the address in section 1, stating the article and the name used; the request is not subject to a statement of reasons.<\/p>\n<h2>4. Assessments in articles<\/h2>\n<p>Articles on this site contain assessments: comparisons of gallery plugins for WordPress, of robotic lawnmowers, of uninterruptible power supplies, verdicts on tracking setups, consent tools, network hardware and cloud services. For all of them the following applies.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>They are based on the provider&rsquo;s own tests, on the provider&rsquo;s own installations and on the published documentation of the product concerned. Where an assessment rests on documentation alone and not on own use, the article says so.<\/li>\n<li>Products and services were bought at the provider&rsquo;s own expense or are freely available. As of the date of this version, no product has been received free of charge or at a reduced price for the purpose of an article. Should that change, the article concerned will say so at its beginning and this policy will be updated.<\/li>\n<li>There are no affiliate links and no sponsored articles on this site. Links to manufacturers and vendors are plain links that earn nothing.<\/li>\n<li>Manufacturers, vendors and service providers have no influence on the content of an article, are not shown an article before publication and cannot have an article changed or removed. The independence stated in section 7 of the Terms of Service applies.<\/li>\n<li>Assessments reflect the state of a product at the time of writing. Software changes; an article that is more than a few months old may describe a version that no longer exists. The publication date is shown on every article.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>5. Reporting an opinion<\/h2>\n<p>Anyone who considers a published comment unlawful, or an assessment in an article factually wrong, can report it by e-mail to the address in section 1 or through the contact form. Reports are reviewed by the provider. A comment that turns out to violate this policy or the rights of the person reporting it is removed; an article that turns out to contain an error is corrected and the correction is marked. The person reporting receives an answer in either case, except where the report itself is spam.<\/p>\n<h2>6. Data protection<\/h2>\n<p>The data stored when a comment is submitted, how long they are kept and what rights their subject has are set out in section 9 of the <a href=\"\/blog\/en\/privacy-policy\/\">Privacy Policy<\/a>.<\/p>\n<h2>7. Changes to this policy<\/h2>\n<p>This policy may be changed when the way opinions are handled on this site changes, for example if comments were ever to be reviewed by a service instead of a person, or if a product were ever to be received free of charge for an article.
