Sidechain compression lowers the bass for the duration of every kick hit. FL Studio 2026 offers three built-in ways to do it: Fruity Limiter, Fruity Compressor with a sidechain input since version 25.2, and Fruity Peak Controller. The tutorial covers the mixer route, the controls of all three plugins, a ghost kick, release times by tempo and a measured example: 8 dB of ducking lowers the combined peak of kick and bass by 2.6 dB while loudness drops by only 0.6 LU.
