Denoising With afftdn and anlmdn: Which Control Matters and From Which Noise Level It Pays Off, Measured

· No comments yet

Both denoisers were run over a clean programme in which there was nothing to remove, so that everything missing at the output is damage. The noise reduction control barely changes anything, while the noise floor control moves the result by 20.9 dB, and the best setting lands within 1.6 dB of the real noise floor every time. Below a noise level of 40 dB under the signal, the best achievable improvement is 0.15 dB.

Crossfades and Cuts: The Click at the Splice, the Level Hole in the Fade and the Length a Fade Needs, Measured

· No comments yet

All 23 crossfade curves of ffmpeg measured: seven hold the level when both sides carry the same take, two hold it when they carry different recordings, and none holds both, so the wrong choice costs 3.01 dB either way. A cut exactly on a zero crossing still clicks at −37.44 dBFS when the slope reverses there, and the fade needed to bury the click does not depend on the frequency of the material.

Stereo Widening: How Much Width Three Methods Add and What They Cost in Mono, Measured

· No comments yet

Three ways of widening a mix, measured with ffmpeg on a 32 second piece: raising the side costs nothing in mono beyond its own level, 0.30 to 1.10 dB spread evenly across the spectrum, but does nothing at all to a mono source. Delay based widening reaches a correlation of 0.04 or tears eight twelfth-octave bands more than 6 dB out of the mono sum, the deepest 9.37 dB at 50 Hz.

Release Metadata 2026: Assigning ISRC, UPC/EAN and ISWC, Writing Them into Files and Checking Them Step by Step

· No comments yet

Release metadata step by step: what ISRC, UPC/EAN and ISWC identify, who assigns them, when the IFPI ISRC Handbook requires a new ISRC for a remix, an edit, an Atmos mix or a remaster, and which reference data belongs with each code. A measurement shows where ffmpeg 7.1.5 stores an ISRC: in MP3 only the key TSRC produces the proper ID3 frame, and in WAV the code ends up in a RIFF field that stands for Source. Finally, a check with the code validator and the MusicBrainz lookup.

Mastering to Streaming Loudness in FL Studio 2026: Parametric EQ 2, Maximus, Fruity Limiter and True Peak Step by Step

· No comments yet

Mastering in FL Studio 2026 with stock plugins: Fruity Parametric EQ 2 for corrections, Fruity Limiter or Maximus as the limiter and the Analyzer in FL Studio Mobile Rack for LUFS and true peak. A measurement shows why a limiter without oversampling needs a lower ceiling: at −8 LUFS, a ceiling of −1 dBFS still left a true peak of −0.29 dBTP per BS.1770, and a 16-times cross-check read up to 0.39 dB more. With four-times oversampling, −1.15 dBFS was enough. Plus export settings and FL Cloud Mastering.

True Peak After Encoding: How Much AAC, MP3, Ogg Vorbis and Opus Raise a Master’s Peaks, Measured

· No comments yet

A master delivered at −1 dBTP rarely reaches listeners in that form: encoding to AAC, MP3, Ogg Vorbis or Opus can raise its peaks. Across 88 encodings with ffmpeg, heavily limited masters at −9 LUFS and −1 dBTP lost up to 0.98 dB of headroom, and one AAC file went above 0 dBTP at a single spot. More dynamic masters at −14 LUFS stayed at or below −0.84 dBTP, a loud master limited to −2 dBTP at or below −0.89 dBTP. With the codecs the streaming services use and the recommendations of Spotify, AES and EBU.

What Happened to Native Instruments in 2026: Insolvency, the inMusic Takeover and the Brand Split

· No comments yet

On 27 January 2026, Native Instruments applied for insolvency proceedings in Berlin, less than eight weeks after the European Commission had cleared a takeover by Bridgepoint and Bain Capital Credit. In May, inMusic, the owner of Akai Professional, Moog and Denon DJ, signed the purchase agreement, and the acquisition was completed on 30 June. iZotope then went to Boris FX, while Plugin Alliance and Brainworx returned to their founder Dirk Ulrich. The timeline from official statements, the EU merger file and the UK company register, and what it means for licences, Kontakt libraries and hardware.

Sidechain Compression in FL Studio 2026: Routing, Fruity Limiter, Fruity Compressor and Peak Controller Step by Step

· No comments yet

Sidechain compression lowers the bass for the duration of every kick hit. FL Studio 2026 offers three built-in ways to do it: Fruity Limiter, Fruity Compressor with a sidechain input since version 25.2, and Fruity Peak Controller. The tutorial covers the mixer route, the controls of all three plugins, a ghost kick, release times by tempo and a measured example: 8 dB of ducking lowers the combined peak of kick and bass by 2.6 dB while loudness drops by only 0.6 LU.

AI Music vs. Self-Produced Music in 2026: Control, Copyright and Effort Compared

· No comments yet

In July 2026, fully AI-generated tracks made up more than half of the daily uploads to Deezer for the first time, yet they attract only 1 to 3 per cent of all streams. In the same month, the Munich Regional Court ruled that Suno infringed copyright by training on songs from the GEMA repertoire, and US courts keep denying protection to works without human authorship. A comparison of generated and self-produced music: how each is made, how much control remains, who holds the rights, how streaming services treat it and where hybrid workflows lead.
